- Championship Golf – The city has three courses, Inverness Golf Club, Torvean Golf Club and Fairways which includes a driving range, and is close to other high quality courses such as the championship links at Nairn, Tain and Dornoch. The Barclay's Scottish Open will be held at Castle Stuart for three years until 2013.
- Inverness Leisure – A fine pool with flumes and leisure waters for serious family fun. The nearby Inverness Sports Centre caters for all sports from athletics to weight training.
- Ice Rink – Inverness Ice Rink is popular with visitors and locals alike and can give you the opportunity to watch or try the traditional Scottish ice sport of curling.
- Rollerbowl - Ten pin bowling. 24 lanes for all family fun at Rollerbowl.
- Football Mundial - new 6-a-side football league started April 2011
- Spectator sports – These are well catered for with First Division Champions newly promoted to the Premier League, Inverness Caledonian Thistle as well as shinty, curling, cricket, rugby, athletics and many more.
- Angling – The hill lochs and rivers around Inverness are famous throughout Scotland for the quality of their fishing for salmon, sea trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and pike. Contact local tackle dealers for advice and equipment.
- Walking – There are paths to suit all interests, from serious hill walking and mountaineering to leisurely strolls around the city, along the riverside and through the islands.Step It Up Highland is an Inverness-based charity which promotes leisure walking in the area. Long distance walkers should try the Great Glen Way for a memorable experience.
- Cycling – Many excellent routes around the area and wider afield, including the Great Glen Way, make Inverness a prime choice for cyclists.
- Water Sports – Loch Ness and the Moray Firth are both close at hand and are popular with sailors and windsurfers.
- Inverness Marina - a new 150-berth purpose built Marina situated right at the harbour entrance.
- Outdoor Pursuits - canoeing down the River Ness or the Caledonian Canal, mountain biking or rock climbing, gorge walking, Paintball and quad biking.
- Adventure Farm - Quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, go-karts, digger driving, paintball and archery.
